YOUR DOCUMENTS STAY WITH YOU
Privacy
Effective October 12, 2026. WordOnline processes document content locally in your browser.
Document content
Files you select and text you edit are processed in browser memory. We do not upload document contents, images or filenames to our servers for editing, conversion or analytics. Working files and results remain available in the current workspace until you clear or close it. We do not keep a server copy or provide cloud recovery. Downloads you choose to save remain on your device.
What stays in your browser
Browser storage keeps preferences, favorite tools, daily task counts and recent-file metadata such as filename, type and time. Recent entries do not contain document content. Selecting a recent entry asks you to choose the original file again. Clearing site data removes these local records. If persistent storage is unavailable, the site uses a temporary session counter and explains the limitation.
Anonymous usage statistics
We collect limited usage events to understand which pages and tools work. These can include the page, a broad traffic-source category, country, device category, event time and whether a task started, succeeded, failed or produced a used result. Statistics do not include document contents, filenames, account details or device fingerprints. Unknown traffic sources remain unknown. This site does not offer accounts or payments.
Cookies, advertising and third parties
WordOnline has no ads or advertising trackers. We do not enable tracking that requires consent without that consent. Hosting infrastructure receives ordinary web requests needed to deliver the site; document contents are not part of those requests. Following an official app or comparison link takes you to another website with its own privacy policy.
Control over your work
Use the workspace’s clear action to release the current files and results. Remove recent entries or clear this site’s browser data to remove locally stored metadata and preferences. Download files you want to keep before clearing, refreshing or closing the workspace.
