About the official WordCraft app

WordCraft is ArtCraft’s open-source word processor with DOCX reading and writing. Explore its official app alongside WordOnline’s separate browser workspace.

What it is for

The official project describes document writing with styles, tables and review tools. Check its current documentation for the features and formats your work needs.

A familiar kind of workflow

WordCraft covers work commonly associated with Microsoft Word. This comparison describes the category; check the official documentation for the current feature set and file support.

Official downloads and Web builds

Get the current launcher, standalone desktop download or Web build from the official project. A Web build is a downloadable package for self-hosting and requires setup.

WordOnline is independent of ArtCraft. The tool on this page is WordOnline’s browser workspace; the links above lead to the separate official application.

Choose between the official app and this browser workspace

  1. Check the official WordCraft project

Use the official WordCraft links for ArtCraft’s current feature list, source and releases. WordCraft is a separate open-source word processor, not the engine or brand of this WordOnline workspace.

  2. Choose where to work

For the official app, follow ArtCraft’s desktop or self-hosted Web build instructions. For a local browser file task, use the WordOnline editor on this page with no account or installation.

  3. Test with your own document

Keep the original, make a change to a copy and review its exported file. Each application has its own supported features and release cycle; using DOCX in both does not guarantee identical layout.

What the WordOnline workspace provides here

The editor on this page can start a blank document or template, open DOC and DOCX, import a PDF for conversion, and export DOCX or PDF. It is the same WordOnline tool available from our home page. Official WordCraft downloads, updates and feature support are managed by ArtCraft separately.

Frequently asked questions

Is the editor on this page the official WordCraft app?

No. WordCraft belongs to the ArtCraft suite. The workspace here is WordOnline’s own browser editor, and this page links to the separate official WordCraft project. There is no official affiliation or endorsement.

How do I get the official WordCraft application?

Use the official downloads link for ArtCraft’s launcher or a standalone desktop package. Its Web build is a downloadable package to host yourself and needs setup; the link does not open a hosted WordCraft editor here.

Can I exchange documents between WordCraft and WordOnline?

The official WordCraft project lists DOCX reading and writing. WordOnline also opens and downloads DOCX. Try a copy and inspect its layout in both applications; this is a shared file format, not a guarantee that every feature transfers unchanged.

Which usage limits apply to the tool on this page?

WordOnline’s limits apply here: 25 MB per file, 10 successful processing tasks per browser per local day and unlimited text editing. Its merge tool accepts up to 20 files. The official WordCraft application has its own documentation and releases.
